![]() If the character was loaded later when the mod was no longer enabled, the pawn would have a missing head graphic. I recommend that if you are re-saving presets after making changes with this release, save them as new files with a different name instead of overwriting the existing presets.Fixed an issue where relationships would disappear after some time due to the world pawn garbage collection process. It should now display head graphics properly. As always, mod compatibility issues continue to crop up.This will guarantee that any bugs in this release will not corrupt your favorite preset. Please report any problems that you may have. This is my own personal set of guidelines that I use when creating characters with Prepare Carefully. I don't like to use point limits, but I still try to have some kind of guardrails so my compulsion to create demigod supermen doesn't get completely out of hand. Note that the "balanced" is in quotes, I'm sure someone will think that characters created via this method are OP regardless, but whatever. It goes without saying that without regard for character concept, you can create an obscenely powerful character under these rules too, but then you might as well use no rules at all. NOTE: I highly recommend using "Pawns are Capable" mod so that disabled work turns into hated work instead. This way a character that happens to be naturally predisposed to certain work but prohibited from doing it by backstory can still do it through gritted teeth when the situation demands.ĭesign the character's childhood (ages 14 to 19): Rimworld prepare carefully 13 mod# Pick Colony Vatgrown backstory to start (it has no bonuses or penalties). Note that a score of 0 represents either utter unwillingness to apply oneself in this area ("Art? I can't even draw a stick figure and don't want to learn!) or a crippling inability to engage in related tasks ("A dog mauled me once and I'm scared of all animals now!") If you wish to represent the character being below average (stupid, weak, etc.) reduce the corresponding skill by 1, 2 or 3. Pick a Childhood backstory (unless your character is supposed to be Colony Vatgrown).Ī +3 or more bonus granted by the backstory is a double flame.Ī +1 or +2 bonus granted by the backstory is a single flame.įor Colony Vatgrown characters, every skill is a minor passion (single flame), to represent the fact that they were genetically engineered. If desired, reallocate up to 5 points from non-flame skills to other skills. This represents your character's focus on some skills at the expense of others:ĭo not reduce any skill to 0 unless it is also penaltized by the backstory. If you reallocate 1 or 2 points to a non-flame skill, it becomes a minor passion (1 flame). If you reallocate 3 or more points, it becomes a major passion (2 flames). If you reallocate any points to a minor passion skill (1 flame) it becomes a major passion (2 flames).Ĭolony Vatgrown characters may not relocate any points AT ALL. ![]() Posting the game's log file somewhere (if you know how to do that) can help, but only do so if this if you've pared down the number of mods you're using to a minimum.Increase the age to desired age and distribute up to 10 points among the skills as you see fit.Ī +3 or more bonus granted by the backstory makes the skill a major passion (double flame), unless it is already a major passion skill in this case, add +1 to skill score on top of the backstory bonus.Ī +1 or more bonus granted by the backstory makes the skill a minor passion (single flame), unless it is already a minor passion skill, in which case it becomes a major passion. In other cases, I have heard that some people have success with uninstalling and then reinstalling the game, but it's difficult for me to recommend that approach. ![]() Sometimes, an error while loading another mod that is before Prepare Carefully in the mod order causes Prepare Carefully not to load properly. If you've got dozens of other mods installed, it can be difficult to know what's causing this. The mod will not work with earlier versions of the 1.3 game. If you're running version 1.3 of RimWorld, make sure that you're running at least version. This will be obvious to experienced mod users, but if you're new to RimWorld mods, you need to go into the Mods menu when you start the game and explicitly enable a mod after you've subscribed to it. Why doesn't the "Prepare Carefully" button appear for me?First and foremost, make sure that you've enabled the mod. ![]()
